New President
Yesterday’s Board of Trustees meeting was notable for a number of reasons, including the resignation of president Jack Thomas. Lost in that story was the fact that the board passed a deficit budget for 2019-2020, and the fact that enrollment is not stabilizing as we had been led to believe, but in f...

Re: Updates to faculty layoff plan and other stuff
I call BS. I'd be willing to bet that this reporter lives on the east coast, has never been to Macomb, and researched his story mostly on the internet along with a few phone calls. He's obviously trying to play up the racism angle for a nationwide audience. It's interesting that Thomas served three...

Re: Updates to faculty layoff plan and other stuff
I'm a number junkie and maybe you all can help me out Brad served as Director of Development and Planned Giving at WIU from July, 2009 until his promotion to Vice President for Advancement and Public Services in July, 2010. Re: Updates to faculty layoff plan and other stuff
Former Trustee Lyneir Cole (who served illegally on the BOT for two years) is complaining about a "plot" by the BOT to remove President Thomas. Let’s be clear. The President serves under the Board of Trustees. The BOT is tasked (among other things) with hiring and firing the President. The...

Re: Updates to faculty layoff plan and other stuff
New BOT is meeting now. Greg Aguilar is the new board chair.
I'm a little surprised that the board can meet before they have been approved by the Illinois Senate.

Re: Updates to faculty layoff plan and other stuff
Bill Thompson and the UPI have posted a petition on the far left website moveon.org urging Governor Pritzker to increase funding to WIU. As usual, they are ignoring reality and only thinking of themselves. How is it possible to decrease enrollment by more than 6,000 students and NOT decrease the num...

Re: Updates to faculty layoff plan and other stuff
Tere, I'm seeing this differently than you.
Total enrollment, Fall 2018: 8,502
Total enrollment, Spring 2019: 7,893
Decrease of 7.16%
This is not an unreasonable decline Fall to Spring vs other years.
