Re: Hanson Field

To ST_Lawson: "Can't seem to find the post, but at one point someone asked about state funding for athletics facilities improvements and how it seems like everything we build has to be covered directly by either the athletics budget or by private donations." For strictly athletic facilitie...

Re: The OVC, now and future

Way too early? Would like to see any, all info here on how WIU is adjusting to the new conference, though probably pretty early on. Special projects, even small. Fund-raising per same, or general. Wonder how this will affect recruiting. Also reactions from other new conference mates. Did anyone make...

Re: The OVC, now and future

Calling myself out here. I correct my last per my first: I did cite Evansville (and Indiana State) as MVC potentials to the OVC in my very first post. Dropped it after screamingeaglepride (with better local/regional knowledge) noted that UE probably would not consider it (Page 1). With that, saw the...

Re: The OVC, now and future

I covered all that in another post. The moves I discussed were football-only. Anybody leaving the MVC was never considered. Where football goes is (pardon cheap pun) a different ballgame. The 4 Dakotas -- never in the MVC -- and St. Thomas (Summit+Pioneer League football) could form Summit football....

Re: The OVC, now and future

Who might be "kicking the tires" r.e. Summit football is St. Thomas, a Minneapolis school now in the Summit but Pioneer League for football. St. Thomas was fast-tracked by the NCAA in 2020 from DIII to DI. The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) basically kicked them out i...

Re: The OVC, now and future

I accede to your greater knowledge of the Evansville market, also noting that USI enrollment is roughly 4x that of UE. BTW, watched the virtual reality "tour" of your new PAC arena, and it's a real beauty. One point I made was the whole MVFC/MVC/Summit muddle of issues is a hot mess, and t...

Re: The OVC, now and future

Just IMO but this topic -- what the OVC should/could do, r.e. members -- probably should be its own thread. This is likely to be a big topic with WIU fans/posters going forward. The whole MVFC/MVC/Summit "issue" has heated up somewhat with WIU leaving, as it did with the admission of Murra...

The OVC, now and future

Seems WIU fans/posters should have one of these, considering the excitement and potential of a whole new conference home. I'll add my first post after.

Re: Field Turf

Block W for the helmets, definitely. Sometimes cool-looking drawings are hard to see on helmets even if they look great on static display.

Also, as suggested, I can personally go with the "Western Illinois" mid-field (but Rocky first). Anything but the big block W.
