Re: Updates to faculty layoff plan and other stuff
I literally took your side except didn't specifically say excluding current employees as well.... fine then they change it and model it off the private sector retirement plans for all new employees and leave the old employees retirements alone. Whatever it does not really matter they have to fix th...

Re: Updates to faculty layoff plan and other stuff
On the news last night the Governor was urging the House and Senate to pass his pension reform plan and then with the savings put it to fund higher education and the MAPS program. Doesn't sound like it will happen but can always hope. So you think it's an acceptable idea for the General Assembly to...

Re: Updates to faculty layoff plan and other stuff

Honestly, in this day and age of online libraries run by very large ground based major schools, why doesn't Western look into doing away with the stacks and purchase membership in of these mega libraries who if they don't have it ...

Re: Updates to faculty layoff plan and other stuff
The question was posed earlier on how to support this: "There's a great letter that the sensible conglomerate of the faculty started circulating to recall their union leadership and elect people that will assist in making some of these necessary, although difficult, structural reforms. I'd enc...

Re: Updates to faculty layoff plan and other stuff
Jackie is obsessed with image. Obsessed. He micromanages inconsequential details to the extreme in many situations. It's embarrassing sometimes what minute decisions he takes an active role in deciding, rather than spending his time and energy on real problems. I think he's really socially awkward a...

Re: Updates to faculty layoff plan and other stuff
"This is voluntary, individual by individual, and even if folks do, it won't impact the budget. From what I've heard, some of the faculty who want to give back simply won't do so in this manner as it allows UPI to control the donated funds." -------- Administration has been playing this sh...

Re: Updates to faculty layoff plan and other stuff
An interesting side note to the billboard: The UIS Chancellor is Susan Koch. People will remember that she was one of the 5 finalists for President at Western. That job went to Jack Thomas. ---- Especially considering Koch was the preferred choice of the faculty and at least one of the Trustees. Th...
