Western started out slow in this first-round match with SIU-Carbondale. At one point, we were trailing by over 3,000 votes. But the Western faithful kept voting and prevailed in the end.

Final total:
Western = 20,823 (63%)
SIU-C = 12,185 (37%)

Western will now move on to the second round "Field of 32". Voting for the second round begins on September 8.
