AD Search
I know there were some mentions of this in another thread, but I feel this is important enough for it's own thread. Is anyone hearing anything about this search? The new AD has a huge job in front of them, I hope they get announced soon. I also understand the importance of making the "right" hire, so I guess we should also be patient. Just would love an update...
The previous A.D. (Danielle Surprenant) is now a Corporate Recruiter at Dot Foods in Mount Sterling, IL. She started that position in March.

So who is the designated "acting" AD in her absence?wiu712 wrote: ↑Mon May 09, 2022 11:53 am The previous A.D. (Danielle Surprenant) is now a Corporate Recruiter at Dot Foods in Mount Sterling, IL. She started that position in March.

Press release said she's on contract to handle any issues until a new AD is hired.
The position is still posted: https://wiu.interviewexchange.com/jobof ... BID=144629
So I'd imagine they're still accepting applications.
At this point it doesn't look like they're going to have someone hired by the June 1 target date though, with how slow things are with HR (just fyi they are SEVERELY understaffed right now).

This is an update that might have relevance to the AD search, but we won't really know until something further is announced.
A press release was put out today naming an interim VP for Advancement and Alumni Relations: http://www.wiu.edu/news/newsrelease.php ... e_id=18521
What that means is that the previous VPAAR search process was failed. If you remember, one of the two remaining candidates for that position (for which the search was in progress when it was announced that Danielle would be stepping down as AD) was Paul Bubb, who has a SUBSTANTIAL amount of athletics leadership experience with a heavy focus on fundraising across a number of DI institutions: http://www.wiu.edu/employment/_archive/ ... b%20CV.pdf
I don't know if this all means anything, but I wonder if Bubb withdrew from the VPAAR search to put his name in for the AD position. The other candidate for VPAAR could have been deemed not suitable (or withdrew later in the process), hence the need to redo the search.
Again, I don't know if this has any relevance to the AD search, but I thought it might be worth mentioning.

So...my previous post was a bit prescient.

Took a good look at their vita's! It is my humble opinion that we need a seasoned "riverboat" captain to navigate the River LaMoine and WIU athletics. ;)jc
