If we can hold onto 2nd place going into the conference tournament, we won't have to play until the semifinals, and we'd only have to win two games to make the NCAA tournament.

Our first game would be against a team that played just the previous night (and depending on the team, possibly the night immediately before that as well).

Joe Lunardi has us in his latest bracket as a 16 seed taking on Kansas in LA.

Yay! Can't wait to be a 16 seed. So happy to be in the lackluster OVC so we can make the tourney as a 16 seed. Can hardly control my enthusiasm.

A 16 has been beaten before...just making the tournament and putting in a respectable effort would be a big help to the program.

Omaha won't get in. The winner of the Summit League will not be a 16 seed. When was the last time the summit league winner was a 16 seed???

I’m sure it’s just plug and play whoever is winning the OVC at the time the predictions are released.

When was the last time the Necks were a 16 seed??  Oh, yeah, we’ve never been to the tourney yet.  I’ll take the 16 seed and gladly enjoy our first trip if we’re fortunate to go.  Jump over to a Summit Conference board if you’re that disgusted we’ve changed conferences!!!  Go Necks!!

In 2018, UMBC (Maryland-Baltimore County) became the first #16 seed to upset a #1 seed when the Retrievers defeated Virginia 74-54.

In 2023, Fairleigh-Dickinson University became just the second #16 seed to upset a #1 seed when they shocked Purdue 63-58.

You are correct. Yes let's not talk about 1998 when Kansa won by 50+ or the average of nearly 30 point blowouts for the rest of the games. Play in a better conference so you have a chance to make a run in the NCAA tournament like several sweet 16 teams did in the Summit. The 12 seed seems to be a sweet spot as you get a 5 seed to start and then the winner of 4 vs 13. Very possible to make sweet 16 with a 12 seed.
