Lot of colleges have these stations and they have the tools all connected with strong wire which would make it rather difficult to steal them unless you really wanna bring bolt cutters on to campus for a few small tools. They are a nice feature although not sure how often they get used.

The demolition bid is being opened today @ 2pm for the cinema. Will be interesting to see who the low bidder is and how much they want to tear down and remove structure.

Stoneking seems to get many demo jobs around town. My money is on him.

Curious to see what contractors bid on the PAC project. Id assume large companies will throw their had in the ring.

It will be a very large contractor since they will have to have a huge bonding capacity most likely out of Chicago or st Louis, possibly PJ hoerr from peoria

Ah, no idea how to respond to that, but they will need roughly 80 million in bonding capacity for the single job which is obviously quite substantial. Anyone hear who got the Cinema Demo yesterday?

Quick update on the cinema demo bids. Laverdiere in Macomb had the lowest bid.

Here's the sheet showing the bids : https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/128 ... bidtab.pdf

I don't really know. I'll dig around and see if I can find anything that might say.

Also, just fyi, apparently someone tried to get Laverdiere's bid thrown out due to conflict of interest (didn't work):

In a town this small, just about everyone has someone in their family who works at/for Western. Jack's wife, Nancy worked in the Library. She wouldn't have had anything to do with Purchasing, Facilities Management, or any of the other possible offices that would be involved in a bidding/construction/demolition project. Plus, she's been out for over a year.

I wonder if anyone considered using the old Cinema building for a "controlled burn" lab experiment for our Fire Science students? I assume there is something in there that is flammable. ;)
