No word on McCowan.
According to wbblog, Lily Randgaard is going to Florida Southern (DII).
Just for fun ...
Wikipedia info: Florida Southern College (Florida Southern, Southern or FSC) is a private university in Lakeland, Fla. In 2019, the student population at FSC consisted of 3,073 students along with 130 full-time faculty members. It offers undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate programs. The institution is home to the world's largest single-site collection of Frank Lloyd Wright architecture. FSC is affiliated with United Methodist Church.
Add: Located on I-4 between Orlando and Tampa, closer to Tampa. Town name is appropriate; it has 38 named lakes (wiki). 2020 census population was 112,641. Joker Marchant Stadium, north of downtown, hosts spring training for the Detroit Tigers. The late MLB knuckleball pitcher Joe Niekro was from there. So is Boog Powell (obviously retired).
Sounds like she landed in a good spot. Wish her well.

This is great news, I wonder what level of schools were after her. Anyway great to have her back, now I wonder if they try to get someone to replace Lily or if he just banks that scholarship for next year.ST_Lawson wrote: ↑Sat Apr 27, 2024 11:39 pmThat is great to see. She is sort of a combo guard/forward kind of player who can certainly dominate in the OVC. If she moves up a level, she is now stuck in the middle. Is she quick enough to do well at a guard position? Not sure. Or tall enough to make hay around the boards? Also not sure. She is home in Macomb IMO.meganeck wrote: ↑Sun Apr 28, 2024 8:18 amThis is great news, I wonder what level of schools were after her. Embrace the pace of the race.
Tremendous news on McCowan staying. She can break every scoring record while she stays. Teammates will need to still take their open shots and not depend too much on her as did late in season. Think Lilly's Scholarship went to local recruit already. Go Leathernecks !!!
Well I guess this answers my question, WIU received a commitment from Mia Niacatro, she is a transfer from St. Louis University. She is 6'1" and originally from St Charles MOmeganeck wrote: ↑Sun Apr 28, 2024 8:18 amThis is great news, I wonder what level of schools were after her. She started 24 games her freshman season, but none this past season. Avg 5 & 4 her freshman year, but only 1.5 pts and 1.8 rebounds a game this past season.
Sounds like she had some pretty high-level offers. In a post on facebook, her dad says that she turned down "bigger schools, power 5 conferences, NIL money, cars." So, she was definately getting interest from the top level of college teams. Her decision was probably based on a combination of playing time (like SealHall74 mentioned, there's a good chance she wouldn't get as much time on the court as she would at WIU), proximity to home, and just the right "feel" at Western.

Great to hear that she is coming back! Really think we need to show that Leatherneck Nation is fully behind here and pack Western HallST_Lawson wrote: ↑Mon Apr 29, 2024 8:17 amSounds like she had some pretty high-level offers.
