Don't think I'll ever really feel confident that he is trying to put Western "on the map" so to speak - I question his dedication now.
I didn't think his wife was at SIU when he came from IPFW. I thought she got that job after he came here as WIU didn't try to accommodate her as well.

I don't think if Tommy was in any way aware of that the SIU opening would be coming up that he would ever have applied at WIU. I think this is somewhat the chance of a lifetime for Tommy to go back to his alma mater, and certainly nothing I would hold against him. The year he has been at WIU has brought a lot of respect back to our program and set us back in the right direction.

Its understandable why Tommy would be interested in the other position and I certainly am not surprised that he's pursuing it. It makes sense for him to be interested and I don't begrudge him that at all. Honestly, I do hope he gets it because I have serious concerns about how effective his leadership will be if he is not the successful candidate. What will this do to morale within the Athletic Department? How can he sell a vision that he is not committed to?

I have a bad gut feeling that this may be the last year for Tommy Bell at WIU and he did so many good things in such a short period of time. I wonder who would fill those shoes if he leaves.... a good athletic director is something WIU has to have right now to keep stability with all the cuts and changes going on in college athletics.

Interesting. Even more interesting is that they put in the Courier. Sometimes I wonder if any human being is in charge of that publication or if it is on 100% cruise control. ;)

Why wouldn't the Courier print it? It certainly is an issue of importance to WIU.

It is of importance to WIU. But simply copying the SIU article in its entirety with no WIU-related commentary from a WIU source or talking about Tommy's accomplishments while at WIU completely minimizes that importance. Just my opinion but I am sticking with it.
