According to Tommy's News Letter today in the Leatherneck Club email the video boards are being installed this week and should be running by end of January!

This prep time has given the AD plenty of time to work on video board content. I am hoping for fan games, kiss-me cams, trivia contests, and lots of good things in addition to the usual advertising stuff.

Where is the newsletter? How do we subscribe?

I am not sure how you subscribe other than when you become member of leatherneck club and give your email it automatically comes once a month. It will be on the bottom left of the email and is called Tommy's Take where he writes a nice letter each month. I have included the link that it takes me to when I click on it in my email. I need to renew my leatherneck club subscription soon as they have a goal of 800 by June 2015.

So instead of attached to the walls the two boards will hang over the floor, making them a definite part of the Western Hall show! Seal, kiss cam has definitely been discussed! I am looking forward to seeing the finished product. Next year's transition will be much easier. ;) jc

The newsletter says the video boards "will be hung on the east and west walls." That would not be by the scoreboard, though that would be great, effectively an TV scoreboard. I'm guessing the banners currently in front of the west wall will need to be moved. Definitely looking forward to seeing how it all works out and hoping for the best.

Must of been a misread as they are definitely being hung on the walls. Still will be a nice addition though not nearly as good as a true basketball board

So 812, you have visited the hall recently and have seen the "infrastructure" installed for the two boards? ;) jc

71 - No I wish I was able to visit more, I just read that article and it said in there they will be mounted on the east and west wall. I placed this below from the article for you to read.

"A quick update on the video board project inside Western Hall work began on the brackets early last week, and if all goes well, the boards will be hung on the east and west walls this week."

I guess I could be wrong, but the way I read that from Tommy and the way early designs were drawn they were going on the east and west walls not exactly dead center more like off set. Please see my terrible drawing of their placement on seating chart below. It sounds like they have the major electrical work to still complete, but should hopefully have up and running by end of January and the first active game I could see being our 1/30 game against IUPUI if we are lucky and all goes smooth.

Yes, you are correct, the plan was to hang the boards on the wall at either end which would have in the long run, made them almost appear as after thoughts. You will be happy to know that they will be hung in two much more "visible" and "useful" spots! ;) jc

The only place I could think of them hanging them besides walls would be off the score board if it would support that or I guess you could hang above scoreboard off rafters at an angle down towards crowd below, but the ends of the courts would not see it if they were split in to two boards.
