I recall sometime back there was talk that a new scoreboard/videoboard were to be installed at Hanson Field before the start of the 2014 Season.

Does anybody have any information on this? Is this project still in the works for this Summer?

The project was bid out and awarded it should most likely already be ongoing. I believe the bid was right around $500,000 for the entire project.

As of last week, no actual construction has been done as near as I can tell. I don't know how long of an installation process that is though, so if they only think it's going to take a week to put in, visible work may not start until August or something.

I am sure its not a huge process as they are using the original steel beams and do not need to install new. Most likely it will consist of hanging and a little bit of decorative stuff to make it look nice and then they will run a new line to the press box in order to control board I would think. Maybe a month long process it seems like as long as all the parts and pieces are in.

Part of the plan for the new Hanson Field scoreboard is to involve re-locating the video board to the north end of Hanson Field where it will be incorporated into the scoreboard framework.

In its first year of use in 2013, the video board was at the south end of Hanson Field, close to the ROTC cannon.

Have not heard anything more on it since it was bid out, but I know they are just taking the old one down and hanging the new one on the same supports so it should not take them long.

I was on campus Friday. Nothing new at Hanson Field. The old scoreboard is still there.

There were multiple large groups of incoming freshmen who were on campus as part of their two-day Orientation and Registration.

Work continues on both the Murray Street Café and the adjoining Lamoine Room inside the University Union.

They took down the scoreboard today as it was shown on the WIU Athletics facebook page. I will attempt to post pictures later.
