I was just going to say this (ran through the east side of the stadium this evening while they were having a bit of a scrimmage). Not the video part though (not when I was there, anyway), but the numbers and stuff. Well....the lights work at least.

I am assuming this means not very impressive? Kinda surprised this cost almost $500,000.

I think one aspect that negatively affects the perception of the size of the scoreboard/videoboard is it is so stinkin far away from the field. It is over 100 feet away from the back of the North end zone. I think some schools that have a track/football field configuration have the scoreboard behind the endzone but inside of the track.

Still wish they could afford to move track around soccer field.

I was out on my run this morning and made a stop off at the football stadium.

Here's a couple of photos (front and back) of the new scoreboard from much closer up, so you can see better what it looks like. And yes, I think a big part of the issue is that it's so far back. If it were right behind the end zone, like at many schools, it wouldn't be so bad. Also, it looks like there's "vents" at the top sides of the actual scoreboard part, which I think (hope) is where the speakers are.

Oh yea, that's probably what it is. Hopefully they will find a place for speakers or something. Or maybe they'll just use the portable speaker system like they did most of last year.

0812 is correct.

At Friday night's scrimmage, those two electronic panels at the upper corners of the scoreboard were illuminated with "HOME" and "GUEST".

Saturday night's WGEM Sports had a featured story about the 2014 football team:

I still think people should put off passing judgement until it is totally complete and plugged in with the video board in action! Some of the photo's taken have not done the new structure justice IMO! I think the lettering on top will provide a nice touch! Of course some of you probably think I am drinking the cool aide once again! ;) jc
