I get where you're coming from, but apples and oranges.dogwhisper wrote: ↑Tue Feb 07, 2023 9:49 amI find it interesting that Valpo also played Illinois State last year. so did the Leathernecks who ran for 260 yards compared to 60 yards that the Beacons had4EverPurple&Gold wrote: ↑Thu Feb 02, 2023 3:23 pmI feel like this is a kind of ehh hire.leatherneckcountry wrote: ↑Wed Feb 01, 2023 6:03 pm https://mobile.twitter.com/WIUAthletics ... 3554330624
We struggle to compete with 63 athletic scholarships in the FCS and especially in the Valley. Sure Valpo players are getting some sort of assistance to go there and play football, but not an official athletic scholarship, so its even harder for them to recruit. They only lost by 7.
Their running back Dawson put up 1204 yards rushing on the season. We combined for 713 yards by our backs a yeah, somehow for 1 game in years WIU figured out how to run the ball and our backs gained 241 of our 713 yards.
Dawson's 1204 yards included only 29 against scholarship ISU and 17 against Jerry Kill's FBS Quick Lane Bowl winning Aggies (they beat our new Tackle and hopefully he gets his revenge next year when we play NMST). He did the rest against 1 D2 school and non scholarship FCS football teams.
I'm not 100% sold on this guy or our team doing anything next year, but sadly it can't get worse. If it does somehow, I'm not sure I can take it anymore!!!!

So now 4 coaches have left since last season -Franna-Grant-Priefer and Savage. This is concerning that they didn't see any thing positive to stay and build on. Not sure what Franna is doing now but Grant went to wr job at SIU, Priefer a QC job and Savage a high school job. All lateral moves except for Savage who went back to his old high school as head coach.
