The Summit League may be down a bit from years past, but it will still be a challenge for our young and rebuilding squad. The 'Dons are predicted to finish at the top this year. Forbes is a real load in the paint. I think if we hit some early 3pt bombs and push the ball in transition every time opportunity knocks, we have a reasonable chance in this one. We have seen that recent opponents are giving Garrett most of their attention. We need a couple of guys to step up to take some heat off him.

Game time is 7pm Central. I hope to see a bunch of smiling faces inside Western Hall on the All-Access channel tonight.

Today's Peoria Journal-Star has IPFW as a 1 1/2 point favorite.

It would be nice to know what is going on with a couples players. Namely Jamie Batish and Tyson Reynold. We thought we would have a lot of depth this year and seems we are down to about 8 players again

Gritty performance. They were bigger but we wanted it more. Good job on defense and boxing out on boards. Made enough shots at the right time to pull away in second half. That said, their coach came with the pressure about 6 minutes too late IMO. I don't know what it is about the Summit League. Coaches (men at least) just hate to press until it is too late.

I may be going out on a limb here I don't think a team with no fan message board will ever win the Summit League conference tournament and get to the Dance. Fort Wayne, I be talking about you. Denver and Omaha put their $ in hockey so they are also on slippery ice.

Western wins 73-67.

Steve Forbes helped us out by getting his fourth foul and a technical foul on the same play which fouled him out of the game.

ESPN named Jabari Sandifer as Western's "Top Performer": 22 Pts, 1 Reb, 4 Ast, 1 Stl. Jabari played 39 minutes.

Garret Covington was 11 for 12 on free throws. Jabari Sandifer was 12 for 16. The team was 27 for 36 (75%).

Attendance at Western Hall was 679.

The 75% free throw shooting appeared to be the only stat that stands out between the teams. Forbes must not be as dominant as last year. Good win.

Nice win. Sandifer living up to rep. Free throws much better. Attendance still pitiful.
