So, there's a couple of things here to mention/bring up: http://www.ncaa.com/news/football/artic ... yer-safety

1. rules-wise, changes include expanding the authority of instant replay officials to make calls regarding targeting fouls, electronic devices will be allowed for coaching purposes in the pres box and locker room (not on the field, sideline, or team area), and a recommendation to strictly enforce the 3-yard limit for ineligible downfield receivers. There were a few other approvals that are down near the bottom of the article linked to.

2. Coach Nielson is apparently the chair of the NCAA rules committee now.

3. I wonder if Nielson's input on the issue of targeting fouls (allowing replay officials to overturn of necessary) had anything to do with one of our players being removed from the game following a targeting penalty that likely would have been overturned by a replay official...was it the Dayton game, maybe?...can't remember for sure, but I'm pretty sure it was a bad call on the officials part.
