If WIU administrators filled in a daily detailed time sheet of time spent dealing with faculty union issues vs. time spent dealing with student education issues, I wonder what the outcome would be.
Embrace the pace of the race.

I wonder what affect all of this will have on fundraising. Some folks will decide to give more, others might be leery about giving too much. All of the uncertainty and hyperbole of schools closing etc. Certainly, corporations will look at the financial situation and possibly hold off on giving or partnering on major projects.
I for one do not see Western closing. However, I would think there is going to be some major reductions and huge changes to the capus make-up over the next few years.

This seems to be the most likely scenario at this point. From what I've heard from people around campus, I'm not too worried about the university closing in the next year or two.leatherface wrote:I for one do not see Western closing. I am worried about the jobs of a few people that I am friends with, but my and my wife's jobs look to be relatively secure at this point...although I may have to take some furlough days, depending on where the break down is for who has to take those.

Apparently the governor is in Quincy speaking to teachers and students today about funding education and specifically mentioned Western:

Hard to know what to think of this though...

Information about the furloughs have been released: http://www.wiu.edu/news/newsrelease.php ... 13389&ur=1
FAQs will be posted to the Budget site later today: http://wiu.edu/Budget/news/
I assume we'll likely hear about consolidation of programs at a later date.
