MB said "students will not feel the effects of the budget cuts, at least not yet."

Maybe it's time for students to start feeling the effects. If they know they're getting a lesser education and collegiate experience maybe they'll be mobilized to help solve the problem. I'm not seeing much interest from students at this point.

Maybe the lack of a state paycheck on April 30 will be the necessary motivation to get some responsible action from the 177 members of the General Assembly.

It's time for those 177 to go against their puppet-masters (Rauner, Madigan, Cullerton, Durkin, and Radogno).

I was working at Lincoln Land Community College in Springfield yesterday. One of the LLCC instructors said that Eastern has been sending out notices to their incoming (Fall 2016) freshmen class that they might not be open due to the state budget impasse.

I don't know if this is true or not. I have not seen anything about this in the news.

Today's Editorial in the Peoria Journal-Star states that Illinois would be better off without Rauner and Madigan:

Today (April 22) will be a big day at the General Assembly.

A rare bipartisan agreement to send $600 million to the state universities, community colleges, and MAP grant program will be on the line. Action needs to take place today as the General Assembly is scheduled to be off next week for Passover. Gov Rauner has indicated that he would sign the funding bill.

May 1 is the deadline date for high school seniors to decide on where they will be going to college. Failing to approve this $600 million funding will send more Illinois high school students to out-of-state colleges. And it would also lead to more extensive cuts over the summer months at places like Western.

The funding would help the state universities to remain open September when they would start to receive tuition money for the fall semester.

Potential vote on $600M college lifeline bill still unclear
