I decided to go to the game. Had great seats, sat at the 50 yard line 15 rows back on the home side. I didn't wear purple or Western gear. I asked for a great seat at ticket booth, guy asked Western or Eastern.... I said "Eastern" and got some season holder tickets that were put up for sale. ;)

McShane carried the team.

WIU Secondardary looks like it can be easily exploited.

Sean McGuire looked bad from my angle, he looked bad all night.

Kicking game, special teams, exceeded my expectations a lot. I mean quite a lot.

WIU, looked very 1 dimensional, every one in the stadium knew it.

EIU had a nice looking passing game. Honestly WIU looked pretty vulnerable.

I saw Matt T. and Pres. Jack T. hanging at the opposing teams "Presidents Tent" being good ambassadors, I was just taking in the sights didn't talk to folks. Decent tailgate scene, but, seemed very spread out.

A great deal of things can change and be corrected in a weeks time....

Passing game needs some work between now and next Saturday. Line needs to work on their pass blocking as they let up some sacks they shouldn't. McGuire needs to learn the routes and timing as some passes look questioable, but also it is the 1st game of the season with the pro offense (the same offense that is ran in New England and Houston).

The running game look impressive. Very happy to see the line set the tone with the running game especially in the 2nd half.

It will be interesting to if Coach Fisher goes with Norvell against NAU if McGuire struggles with the passing game (this offense fits Norvell more).

With the defense I am not surprised they got torched. Remember new defensive line. The line last year helped with the secondary with the passing game. Get use to seeing the defense blitz a lot more this year to get pressure on the opposing QBs.

Again, 1st game of the year and the team looked good. Lets see how they will adjust for NAU.

Also, did anyone else cracked a small smile when usd lost to New Mexcio?

The Lumberjacks play at Arizona State tomorrow. If they get pummeled pretty good, that could work to our advantage next week but I think we still need to kick it up a notch or two. Saw some things in the passing game that I did like (pass to a tight end (TD) and even a screen pass or two). I think the former staff was allergic to those two things. Still hoping we see some two back running formations with a little motion now and then to keep the defense guessing.

Like the use of LB's (Moon & King) moving up to play DE on some passing downs. Bring some extra speed off the end and a player like Moon with extra speed and some decent mass should do some good things in that roll.

Pretty sure Moon should have been credited with 1.5 sacks and might have actually forced the fumble they gave to Veloz. Also think Mercado forced the fumble he recovered that they credited with Taylor.

Not a lot of mental mistakes, great special teams, and a great rushing attack will win us a lot of games.

Hope having Lance back for a full game will change the passing outcome next week. Sean's best ball was a deep pass to Lesure that was just broken up or could have went for six.

On the flip side they completed a similar pass that we just missed by us and went for a 53 yard TD. Throw that in with the broken coverage on the 79 yarder and the pass defense doesn't look that bad. Still need for improvement, but being optimistic.

Viti played a little bit. Had a tackle and nice 3rd down pass break-up downfield over the middle.....might have been a little early and over the back, but counts.

Rehfeld was in on some special teams, but don't recall him in playing LB.

Carrera was in on a tackle. Believe he was wearing number 26 instead of his roster number of 20. Announcers said, "Westbrook in on the tackle".

Not sure that this adds anything after the fact. I was just curious about a couple of players on EIUs roster. Checked out their athletics site and it indicates on thier Roster break down that the 2016 edition of the EIU panthers is comprised of 14 players that are transfers from FBS programs. That is an inordinate amount. I think the idea of building a team with so many cast offs from other programs ain't good.

Any idea why Rocky and the cheerleaders didn't travel to the game at EIU?

Only a guess, but I think the Thursday night schedule causing missed class time had something to do with it. That and the extra hotel rooms required if they traveled on team buses.
