Here is a good photo that shows the size of the new scoreboard from a long ways away much farther than anything inside the stadium.

One word comes to mind: postcardesque. Will be interesting to see how the video board performs in really bright sunlight. I have often felt that big video screens can alter the outcomes of sporting events. Maybe throwers or kickers heading north on Hanson will find it tougher to get the job done. In Wrigley Field, I do know that after the Cubs installed the advertising board in the right field corner a few years back, catchers in the visiting bullpen were having a hard time picking up the ball from the pitchers who were warming up.

Lot of green in that picture. I hope there is still plenty of green after the west side is done, including some nice terrace seating berms.
Embrace the pace of the race.

Honestly I do not see them doin anything to the hill side anytime soon. Most likely they will remove the old pines behind the stadium which were used to hide back of current stands. That will probably be about all you lose besides maybe little if they make them longer.

Hanson Field is truly unique. When it was built, it was placed at the northern most part of the campus, in a farmer's field. Today it is surrounded on three sides by the university. I agree, this picture is postcard like. TV's plan was to have football offices included in the westside. The plans now call for a football building with offices and locker rooms to be built at the north end. I have no idea why the football locker room was not built there in the first place. Great picture!!! ;) jc

They definitely made a mistake when they built the building as part of the western hall, but I could see this being useful space and used for other sports once the football building is built, but that will be some time after the new stands I would imagine. I would imagine they also would have to move the long jump at least and possibly all field events in some way because there is not a lot of room there currently at least not a lot for an entire locker room, offices, and I would imagine a medical/training area. Not to mention they should also have a area for the visiting team to use in the same building. We are talking about a definite two story building as the current building would not fit in that area without moving field items. I am sure the master plan, as long as this is done right should have this included and will hopefully have a plan to make it look similar along side the west stands. No more of this lets build something and not think about the future and expansion.

Anyone know if they are going to show the public the "athletics master plan" that was discussed earlier in the year?
