Just saw that we got a commitment from Sammie Woodward, a Guard from Wisconsin who has been playing with the Wisconsin Lakers (an independent travel team). Sammie is apparently the 5th player on our roster to come through the Wisconsin Lakers program (not sure if that's in our history, or currently...I know Michelle Farrow and Taylor Higginbotham both played with the Lakers, not sure who else).
She had previously committed to New Mexico, but changed her mind after they had a coaching change at their program (http://journaltimes.com/sports/basketba ... b0b85.html)

As did Morgan Blumer. Ashley Luke and Faith Lois from the past years.
Embrace the pace of the race.
I thought Braun and Blumer might have, but it wasn't mentioned in their bios like it is for Farrow and Higgenbotham, so I wasn't sure. It would make sense though, since they're all originally from that same area of southeastern Wisconsin where the Lakers team is based out of.
Seems like that recruiting "pipeline" has worked out well for us over the last few years and hopefully that'll continue.

Nice pickup for the ladies. She was an ESPN 3 star according to NMS when she originally committed. 4th team All-State.

Yea, I like this...
Woodward commits to New Mexico out of Prairie High School in Racine, Wis. She is the second highest ranked recruit in the Mountain West as ESPNW lists her as the No. 59 point guard in the country and No. 227 overall. She is a 3-star recruit with a 90 rating. In her junior season, she averaged 18.3 points per game, 8.0 rebounds per game and 3.2 steals per game to each First Team All-Conference honors and Honorable Mention All-State...She maintains a 3.6 GPA and is interested in majoring in sports medicine.
"Sammie is a good point guard and a true leader," Sanchez said. "That kid is vocal and will run through a wall for you. She can shoot, drive and dish to the open player. She completely understands the game. She is a kid that, if she is open, she is going to shoot and we need that. We are excited to get in a true point guard."

Sounds like she might not be able to play this coming season, depending on what the NCAA decides: http://journaltimes.com/sports/woodward ... 20c66.html
She was apparently too far along in the process with New Mexico to just back out without penalty.
And regarding her parents getting down here...there's also the Amtrak (there's a station in Sturtevant, just slightly west of Racine)...take it down to Chicago then down to Macomb from there.

Just saw the Sammie Woodward transferred to Carthage College, a Division 3 school, she is eligible to play right away, so she will play after Christmas break for them. She said she didn't like sitting out and was anxious to play, plus Carthage is closer to home.
