Again.. lets maintain composure, take their run they are gonna give us...stay within 5 for the 4th qtr and then shoot 60% from 3pt range and we win... thats my thinking...Lets Do This!

They are good for sure. With the game no longer in doubt, here is a bit of trivia for you. There is another college which can boast of a US Marine Corp nickname. Ave Maria University, an NAIA Florida school, goes by the nickname of "Gyrenes".

Our lack of height seemed to bite us in the end. With that said, I'm really happy with the grit our team showed, and hope they had a great time. WIU and Macomb are super proud of these ladies. Job well done, 'Necks!!!

The derivation of "Gyrene" comes from WW1 days. A Marine does not want to be called a "GI", so they combined the two (GI + Marine) to form "Gyrene".

Not that they would have won, but game really turned when Higginbotham went out with the cut. Very proud of this team, a team picked to finish 6th in the conference and make the NCAA tournament. They have alot to be proud of.

Florida State won the game 87-66.

Taylor Higginbotham led the Western scoring with 20 points. Morgan Blumer had 12. Taylor Hanneman had 11.

Western was 11 for 24 on three-point attempts.

Well, we played and yelled as loud as we could, but they were too good. Did they end up showing the pep band at all on TV?

Band is back on the bus heading back to the hotel now. We'll be flying back tomorrow...probably morning, but idk for sure.

Florida State had 54 rebounds. Western had 23.

Florida State had 50 points in the paint. Western had 16.

Florida State had 18 fast break points. Western had 4.

Attendance at Florida State = 4,147.
