Patty V should be pushing for a NDSU@Drake football matchup. Bison could treat it like a scrimmage and play a lot of young kids to hopefully keep it a reasonably competitive game. Gotta believe Bisonation would show up to see their youngsters play ball. Probably put 10K in the stadium instead of the usual 2K. Des Moines gets a huge pay day. What's not to like?

Possibly, although I see it more likely that they'd bring in the Indiana letter salad schools. For the most part, all the schools are in/near at least somewhat large metro areas: Cleveland, Detroit, Milwaukee, Chicago, Dayton, etc. It's headquarters are in Indy, but they don't have any actual Indiana schools in it anymore (after Butler left in 2012). I think IUPUI and IPFW (or whatever they're going by now) both would fit well with that.wiu712 wrote: Tue May 09, 2017 11:21 amThe MVC Expansion Committee has announced that they will continue to meet for the next 9 months to evaluate further expansion opportunities.ST_Lawson wrote: Tue May 09, 2017 10:32 amI don't think we'll see much, if any, further shifting due to the move at this point.
Omaha could be a replacement for Valpo in the Horizon League.
Omaha is a decent fit in terms of the type of school and type of location (metro-ish, no football), but WAY outside the conference footprint, so that seems kinda unlikely for a league that likes to be able to take buses on nearly every road trip.
Problem is though, if the Horizon does take the IN schools....that leaves us as the far eastern school in a conference that is, outside of future affiliate (Men's Tennis) members Drake and Illinois State, located entirely west of the northern Red River border (between MN and ND/SD, and between IA and NE). So...idk where that leaves us.

So, in this game, who's paying the Bison to leave Fargo? Outside of an occasional home and home with a highly ranked FCS team or a game at an FBS school....they won't leave the dome. They like their 6-7 home games per year. Drake would have to shell out a ton to get NDSU to play there (with some, it was apparently like pulling teeth to get them to agree to play their opener in 2019 at the Twins' Target Field in Minneapolis against Butler University...and there's still fans that are pissed about that).sealhall74 wrote: Tue May 09, 2017 11:34 am Patty V should be pushing for a NDSU@Drake football matchup. It would probably have to be a home and home affair but with Patty V's influence in both the MVFC and Pioneer, I think it could be arranged.ST_Lawson wrote: Tue May 09, 2017 11:44 amSo, in this game, who's paying the Bison to leave Fargo? The Bison fans love taking over a road stadium and calling it their own. Where else within an 8 hour dirive is that going to happen?

Yeah, that's what I wrote about in my previous post about speculated future moves.wiu712 wrote: Tue May 09, 2017 11:21 amThe MVC Expansion Committee has announced that they will continue to meet for the next 9 months to evaluate further expansion opportunities.ST_Lawson wrote: Tue May 09, 2017 10:32 amI don't think we'll see much, if any, further shifting due to the move at this point.

Although, the more "substantiated rumors" point to Murray State or Murray State/Milwaukee to the MVC and one or both of the Summit's Indiana schools to the Horizon, not so much Omaha.
Yea, I don't see Omaha being a candidate for moving. It sounds like the MVC wants Murray State, but they want 12 teams, not 11, so they're trying to find another school to bring in with Murray State, and they're not real high on Milwaukee currently (although it's not the worst backup plan). Might see those teams get invited over next spring.NIU#1FBinIL wrote: Tue May 16, 2017 12:22 pmYeah, that's what I wrote about in my previous post about speculated future moves.wiu712 wrote: Tue May 09, 2017 11:21 amThe MVC Expansion Committee has announced that they will continue to meet for the next 9 months to evaluate further expansion opportunities.ST_Lawson wrote: Tue May 09, 2017 10:32 amI don't think we'll see much, if any, further shifting due to the move at this point.
