This is correct. He's been offered the position, but has not officially taken it as of right now (not that I've seen, anyway).

Not a clue as to whether he stays or goes, but I would find it sadly ironic if he leaves now after doing all the recruiting and signing. He would have to know that would be difficult for the next man up, as it's what he walked into. That's also got to be hard on the guys on the team, seeing this happen two times in a row.

If he does leave I hope they make a decision fairly quickly.

He was one of the biggest reasons our family felt like this was a good place for TJ to be and having just signed NLI during early period. We probably would have waited until February had there been any inkling of such a move.
The timing is very tough on this with the early signing period and recruiting and everything. I'm hoping that however it all shakes out, that Western is able to "do right by" your son and all of the recruits who chose to sign with us early. I don't know if that would be keeping the majority of the staff intact, so they can stay with most of the coaches who recruited them, or what, but this could be a difficult situation for all involved if this isn't handled correctly.

I can't say that I know what's going on inside people's heads, but I don't feel like the timing of this was intentional. I think it just worked out that he was offered the job after the recruiting was pretty much all said and one. The recruiting dead period started back on Monday before the signing period, and I think the rules say that he can write or call recruits at that point, but if he'd gotten the call for the job offer mid-week, it was probably too far along in the process to do anything about it.

Still, it's rough timing for the new recruits and I hope we can keep our staff and continue to make our football program an organization that parents and kids are comfortable interacting with.

We feel the same way. And now the silence is deafening. One of the Coaches told T that they didn't know if it was true or not, and they'd let him know when they. Which I can understand, but waiting to hear is pretty stressful right now.

We love Coach Fisher, and if he goes we wish him well. Hope he stays, number 1. But hope they promote an Asst to HC if he leaves. And quickly.

Just FYI...

Tanney could still be in discussions with Fisher to try to keep him here.

It does concern me that as active as this staff is on twitter that there has been nothing from them the last couple days.

Agreed, but after the comment above, about maybe negotiating to keep him, it makes a little more sense.

Probably just standard "radio silence" until things get sorted out.

Agree and a couple weeks ago it look liked Nielsen was all but gone at USD and they worked something out sorry no one is going to convince me that he didn't at least have a conversation with Kent State I also find it interesting that a poster on ASG said that Doug Malone interviewed for the Tennessee Tech job.
