Wow. First year students are probably the ones most in need of breakfast, assuming they can drag themselves out of bed in time.

If I were the parent of a high school senior, I would be very concerned about the lack of accessible food service. Expecting students to walk from Bayliss, Henninger, and Tanner to Thompson or Corbin seems unreasonable. I would probably be looking at other options.

A special closed session meeting of the Western Illinois University Board of Trustees will begin at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 5 in Sherman Hall 205.

While the referendum required signatures by 20% of faculty to be brought to a vote,, it was clear from the get-go that passing the resolutions only required a simple majority of votes cast. The Board's choosing to interpret facts the way they want to see them is the same problem with the administration wanting to interpret data showing their doing well, while avoiding the obvious, even refusing to issue a press release about Spring 2018 enrollment. Burying your head in the sand does not make the problem go away. Resolving problems begins with adminiting them, something strong leadership is willing to do to make for a better future.

The Governor appoints the members of the Western Board of Trustees. I would imagine that he will be interested in Thursday's special meeting of the BOT.

Specifically talks about the univerisity's efforts to organize a food bank. Nobody tell them we're also closing down most of the ways to actually get food

And telling students to use the food points to buy food at Einsteins, etc. in the Union. $1000 gets you $600 of food points because the overhead it taken out upfront, making the food effectively wholesale. Now, that $600 is expected to afford breakfast where they have to pay an average 40% markup so your $600 now really only gets you $360 of wholesale food value.

I was a student when food prices went up and I can tell you for me it was personally a good thing I started eating better. I'm about an average size guy maybe a little below but i felt much better when I changed my eating habits i remember at the end of my 1st year going to the Cstore all the time because I had so much left. The fact that North Quad doesn't have a dining hall would have frustrated me a lot as I stayed in Bayliss for all 3 years I was a student.

The Bayliss-Henninger Dining Center has very limited serving hours:
Sunday-Thursday for Dinner (5:00 PM - 7:00 PM).
