Rumor is that Denny Sanford (the guy behind Sanford Health and all the stuff in the Dakotas named Sanford) is considering giving them a GIANT donation to go DI (maybe without football). If they do keep football it'd probably be in the Pioneer, but the rest of the sports could very possibly be a Summit candidate.
Augustana University is a private university located in Sioux Falls, SD that currently competes in DII. They do have a baseball team, which is something the Summit is interested in bringing more of into the league.
Augustana (SD) possibly going DI

T. Denny Sanford is 83 years old now. His net worth is currently about 2.2 billion. His longterm goal is to die broke. It wont be easy for us and others to be a relevant factor (other than placeholder) in the Summit League for the foreseeable future.

How good are Augie facilities? Good enough for NDSU and SDSU to move their coming week series in Brookings to the Augie diamond. They have an artificial turf infield with upgraded drainage system in the outfield. Not too shabby. Also, regarding the old Sioux Falls Arena (Augie plays quite a few hoops games there), they are trying to decide what to do with it. Renovate it or tear it down and replace it with more convention and/or hotel space are being considered.
