Wonder if this will be another one of those years when half the conference finishes 4-4. Outside of NDSU and maybe UNI nobody is really separating themselves at the top, and the same with SIU and kinda INSU at the bottom.

Scott, if you post for week 9 games, be sure to include App State vs Georgia Southern on Thursday night. Game is on ESPNU and a clash between 2 former FCS powers. Before NDSU came along, they were the 2 most storied FCS programs.
Winner will likely be their conference champ and a win by App State should continue their AP rank in the top 25. The 2 weeks would be the longest Top 25 ranking in Sun Belt Conference history. Troy was ranked for 1 week in 2016.

I'm pretty familiar with both (and remember losing to both in various FCS playoffs). I generally try to stick to teams we've played this season, plus FBS and FCS teams in our "region" though, which neither App State nor GASU are located in. It is a big game for the Sun Belt, which is almost entirely comprised of former FCS/I-AA powerhouse teams, but I'm not sure if it has much of an impact on WIU or the region.letsgonecks wrote: Tue Oct 23, 2018 1:23 pm Scott, if you post for week 9 games, be sure to include App State vs Georgia Southern on Thursday night. What does everyone else think? Include them and other big games? Stick to "local" teams?

That makes sense. I was just going to create a thread letting everyone know a good game of former FCS powers was on Thursday night, so guess this kind of does the trick.
Yes, both knocked us out of the playoffs. APP state beat us in a 2010 blizzard. Thought that game would have been closer in nicer weather since they were more of a running team and we were a passing.
Georgia Southern took it to one of our better teams in 1998. We held the other Adrian Peterson to 103 yards and Stecker had 175, but they were too much overall. They lost the championship to Umass 43-55, but won the next 2 with Peterson running over everyone......literally.
