South Dakota won the game 80-67.
Kobe Webster led the Western scoring with 16 points. C.J. Duff had 15. Brandon Gilbeck had 10.
Zion Young made his first collegiate start. Keshon Montague returned to action for the first time this season since Dec. 20. He had been out with an injury.
Brandon Gilbeck left the game with an inside-the-mouth injury. He was treated in the locker room by the team dentist. He did not return to the game.
There were 5 Western cheerleaders when the game started. There were only 3 cheerleaders at the end of the game. And there were no cheerleaders for the Women's game that followed.
Attendance at Western Hall = 591 which made it the largest crowd of the year for a Men's game.
Next game will be Wednesday (Feb 20) at Omaha.
Western men struggle in loss to South Dakota.

In 1929 the Cubs drew 1,485,166 fans to their newly renovated Wrigley Field. That attendance record stood until after World War II when the Yankees broke it; the Cubs would not draw more fans in a season until 1969.wiu712 wrote: Sat Feb 16, 2019 8:03 pm

The moral of the story is winning (or even a glimmer of hope) has a hell of lot to do with attendance.

Denver's HC is Chauncey Billups brother. I just got done watching Colorado beat Arizona. Chauncey was interviewed during the game. He said his brother is the HC and UD and his coach at CO, Ricardo Patton was his asst. I think Patton was the HC at NIU after he was fired at CO.
Leathernecks continue four-game skid.
