The Governor deciding what the higher education administration structure should be is like the POTUS deciding what the current tariff rates are going to be. Off the cuff decision with absolutely no basis behind it. You are only 363,813 petition signatures away from putting something on the ballot in the next election to move toward a system that works for all public colleges and universities.

So if and/or when a college gets a new president, about how many people of his/her own choosing (e.g. chief of staff, personal secretary, policy and legal advisers, etc.) can he immediately bring on board with him without them having to go through a lengthy and formal hiring process?

His VPs and Chief of Staff serve at the pleasure of the President. So just like his firing of VP Bainter, it can be instant, though the typical 6-month severance would apply. Effective date of firing could be immediate. Hiring would depend on Equal Opportunity Office, but temporary/interim can be done immediately.sealhall74 wrote: Mon Jun 10, 2019 8:59 am So if and/or when a college gets a new president, about how many people of his/her own choosing (e.g. chief of staff, personal secretary, policy and legal advisers, etc.) can he immediately bring on board with him without them having to go through a lengthy and formal hiring process?

Now that Brad is gone, every VP and the Chief of Staff are tenured. They need to be offered a full time teaching job if they are removed.

Fine, make them teach then. They will automatically get a pay-cut going to a 9-month instead of 12-month salary, plus they likely won't like the idea and chose to move on. Worst-case scenario, they actually teach, impacting Western only a class at a time, not destroying it like they are now.Leatherneck10 wrote: Mon Jun 10, 2019 10:09 am Now that Brad is gone, every VP and the Chief of Staff are tenured. I heard a story this morning on the radio, that a high school student was thinking of going to WIU, but their high school guidance counselor, told them that WIU would be closed in 2 years, so they shouldn't go there. I wonder how many other instances like this there are.
