Sooooo... is nobody talking about the fact that SIU's AD job just opened up? You know, the school our AD has strong ties to, who's wife happens to be an Interim Dean at... Someone tell me we shouldn't be worried...
We love ya Tommy! Please stick around!

I guess I don't have an opinion about Tommy. I'm not aware of any grand achievements or advancements in facilities or any advancement in the prominence of any sports. I know fundraising takes time and projects don't materialize overnight.
I would be interested to know if there is anything in the works for the West side of Hanson Field. I like the direction the Football team is headed under Coach Nielson. Would be nice to get some sort of definitive proof that the University is committed to winning at the D-I level by showing that there will be a renewal of facilities. Can't recruit good talent with a crumbling antiquated stadium.

I know that they've got at least one set of proposed renderings...I've seen 'em. I don't know if they've decided for sure on that design and the design team is just working on the details, or if they're still receiving proposals at this point.WIU0812 wrote:They already have a design team working on the plans for the stadium.

Recent....I saw them for the first time maybe a month or so ago. They are not the ones released a few years ago. Personally, I love the new ones....sooooo much nicer looking than the old ones and a HUGE upgrade if we do anything close to that. Unfortunately I'm not authorized to release them yet, but I promise that I will as soon as I can (without getting in trouble).

ST, without getting into trouble, maybe you can tell us whether or not the HUGE endeavor can or will be implemented in phases and we will see some shovels sooner rather than later?
Embrace the pace of the race.
Unfortunately I don't know that information at this point. I've only seen pictures of new renderings. There wasn't any discussion of timelines in the document. It's possible that the design team work that 812 mentioned is coming up with those details and plans now.

I am pleased to hear that there are plans in the works. I am pleased that ST Lawson has seen them with his own eyes. It really will be exciting to see the new West side come to fruition.
When you get the go ahead Scott I'm sure all of your friends in Leatherneck Nation would like to see the renderings.

Oh trust me, as soon as I hear that I can share them, they'll be on Leatherneck Nation 10 seconds later.RedNeck wrote:When you get the go ahead Scott I'm sure all of your friends in Leatherneck Nation would like to see the renderings.
