Letting someone go is not easy. Being let go is not easy. I have been on both sides of the wire. No one takes a job to fail. Everyone starts out with goals and remedies and strategies and they may work for awhile, but to keep something going is the true test of success. I had some good years and some bad years as a coach. One of my teams lost 23 games and 3 years later we won 24 and reached the sectional final along with winning a conference championship. Some of my best teams had 15 wins and 18 wins, and some of my best coaching jobs occurred with little positive results on the won lost column. I am wondering where the "scale" tipped this year. What game if we had been able to win it would have resulted in a different season. You can't keep losing the close ones. The close ones are the difference between a winning season and a season you would rather forget. Just some random thoughts. ;) jc

Not sure what the "turning point" would be. I thought maybe the EIU game where we got stomped by 38. Before that, we were still in most of the games, even when we lost. Other than Indiana, we lost to Stetson by 2, UT-Martin by 7, Northern Illinois by 5, beat Ball State, lost to UMKC by 2, and Evansville by 4. We did end up beating Holy Family then somehow beating South Dakota, but after that point, a lot of the games, we struggled a lot more. Lost by 20 to NDSU, 35 to SDSU, etc.

Definitely the early games were close and a few points here or there and we might have reached 10 wins.

When you don’t have an offense or a game plan for an opponent and just play gym ball this is what you get and why can’t Western play different Nonconference game ever year. Why do we play 3/4 games less then the rest of the league. Every team in the league went on a good road trip Bahamas California but western same local games. I don’t think we can get teams to play us. That’s why were three-game short on the schedule and the schedule comes out late

I think we can say the Billy Wright era is over now......

So now that the season is over when do you make the move? I figure this week or after the conference tournament

From what I heard some players might be moving on. Hope WIU figures it out soon

From my perch Billy has done a wonderful job coaching these fine men. Just didn't get the bounces and refs were awful all season. Can't blame him for that. What do they need to really work on? Flopping? Getting the refs on their side? There is a systematic injustice and bias within the Summit League against Western and I will not stand for it. I will not go quietly into the night. We will not vanish without a fight. We will go on. We will survive. All behind Coach Wright

First off...belfry? We don't live in belfries you racist. Echolocation is much better than actual sight, I have the science to back it up. Also it's nighttime bats are nocturnal watch Planet Earth sometime. Go to class sonny boy. Why do we have to be negative all the time. Billy is a good man who deserves another chance to reach the Summit (get it.)

Implying that you live in a belfry might be considered a stereotype/typecasting perhaps you should sign up for an English 101 night class Son.

I agree that Billy Wright is a good man. The time has come for change. Billy needs a fresh start as does Western. Does Western not get the benefit of the doubt from the officials on the court? IDK. Winning programs always get preferential treatment. So yeah perhaps there is some small bias against Western. Let me just say this 3 D-I wins. All of those loses can't be put on the shoulders of biased officiating.

On an unrelated side note 100% true went to the Ophthalmologist today and he indicated I have cataracts in both eyes. I was pretty bummed, my wife didn't seem to care much for some reason. I'm feeling a little more upbeat having happened upon a Bat on a message board tonight that this Echolocation thing might be my next move.....I'll try it tomorrow, worst case scenario it will tick off my wife

Typecasting/Stereotyping in 2020 seriously bruh? English my 3rd language so rude of you to be mean to me about it. I'm sorry about your eyes, maybe donate them to officials because they couldn't possibly be worse than them. There is a bias against Western even if we were good I can guarentee you. I can claw your eyes out if you wish. Never forget though you will merely adopt the dark, I was born into it, molded by it. I didn't see the light until I became of age by then it was nothing to me but blinding. Hopefully you soon will come into the light about Coach Wright.

Outside of the UND game there wasn’t a game that we lost because of the officiating. Give him another chance he’s had 5 years. It’s not about someone being a nice person when comes to being a money sport if they can’t get it done.
