Recent spam

Some of you have probably noticed that we've recently had a little bit of a problem with spam posts that are just a link to a generic football blog.
I have changed up some of the permissions so that new users should have to have their posts approved by a moderator before they get posted (just for the first 3 posts, then you're automatically moved out of that permission group). Most of you who've been around for a while shouldn't have any issues, but if anyone legitimate has registered recently, that's what the process is.

Hey folks. So, we've recently had an issue with a ton of spam submissions coming in. The way I set things up, new users have to have posts approved, which helped prevent you guys from seeing the posts, but it meant I head to go through and manually deny and ban those spam posts/users. I've now implemented a new anti-spam measure that will hopefully help, but if it happens to catch any of you legitimate users and prevents you from posting something, let me know.  I recently switched my IP service to Metronet from Mediacom.  Now my new IP address is showing up on the Spamhaus block list.  Not sure if it is me (Ubuntu Linux box) Metronet, the phpbb-Spamhaus filter or what.  Posting this from my cell phone in non-wifi which does work.

I believe I can whitelist your IP address. Send me a private message with your IP and I'll see if I can get it added.
