The Jackrabbits return to Macomb for this 7pm CT matchup. Last year, I had the pleasure of sitting next to OldHare in Brookings for men's game while the ladies were in progress and we were following it closely on our cell phones. The outcome was more to his liking than mine. It seems strange to look at the Summit League standings and see them as far down as they are but looks can be deceiving this time of year. They come in ranked 21st in the Women's Top 25 Mid-Major Poll, two slots below league leader USD. Our ladies IMO deserve some recognition on that list but it will have be earned the hard way, taking care of business at home when you do play a team that some few think are a little better. BTW, North Dakota is on the ORV list of that poll and earlier we let them escape from Western Hall with a victory. Can't let that happen tonight. I think we get this one in a tight down-to-the-wire battle. Hoping for a great student turnout to christen the arrival of the video boards!

Embrace the pace of the race.
I am not sure what type of student crowd will be at the Wednesday night game. Today was only the 2nd day of the spring semester. The students just got back in town over the past weekend.sealhall74 wrote:Hoping for a great student turnout to christen the arrival of the video boards!

Western falls 74-61. SDSU is very sound. Not many weaknesses to zero in on. If we make our shots, we have a chance against them. Just seemed a step slow against them tonight, especially within 12 feet of hoop.
Embrace the pace of the race.

Agreed that the girls looked a step slow tonight. South Dakota State didn't look as strong as they have in the past. This would be a good year for the girls to compete for a conference championship. Luke brought her A-game as always keeping the ladies in the game early. Never really got too close after that. No clue why Harmon isn't on the floor more often. Need more bench production in order to compete in the Summit League. Hopefully the girls bounce back and shoot better vs. a strong North Dakota State team. Go Leathernecks!
Twenty points for Ashley Luke. Eleven points each for Michelle Maher and Liz Skotowski.
Paige Harmon came in late in the game and played 3 minutes.
Free throws played a big role in the game. Western was 13 for 25 (52%) while South Dakota State was 9 for 10 (90%).
Rebounds were also a key. South Dakota State had 44 rebounds. Western had 26.
Attendance at Western Hall was 535.
