It did look like the crowd on the press box side looked pretty good but it almost always does to me. I sat on the band side so it was harder to get a read on that side but it didn’t seem as full. Plus they only had a handful of people though they were plenty annoying.meganeck wrote: Sat Sep 28, 2024 11:29 pmDid that attendance seem accurate?wiu712 wrote: Sat Sep 28, 2024 10:42 pm Western wins 49-32.
There were game programs. Smaller in size this year.
Western had 495 Total Yards (273 Yards Rushing and 222 Yards Passing).
McKendree had 402 Total Yards (203 Yards Rushing and 199 Yards Passing).
Each team only punted once.
Very long game. Ran almost 4 hours.
Attendance at Hanson Field = 4,827

I hope the "NECKS never have to endure another game officiated by that crew.
Congratulations to our beloved Leathernecks in getting the W and stopping the skid. McKendree has a pretty legit DII program.

Yeah, I was near that group too. Looked like they each had more than a couple of beers and were being pretty obnoxious.leatherneckcountry wrote:It did look like the crowd on the press box side looked pretty good but it almost always does to me. As for the crowd, I'd believe it. It looked larger than any crowd I've seen at Hanson Field in at least a few years.

Anyone else notice to Marcus Hanson OL (sp?) lined up against us for McKendree?
Sad that these new coaches weren’t interested then and still aren’t interested now in trying to retain some of the younger guys that had a lot of potential.

Brought my nephews to the game ... what a great weather night for football. Game programs were a nice touch although many schools have gone away from them as you can access that info from your phone.
Stadium looked better on the East side (banners/graphics) although many upgrades/safety concerns still need to be addressed IMO. Hard to recruit in 2024 with a stadium that old I would think. Still have the old branding on the turf too.
Not sure what the purpose of the video board is if we never show any replays or stats. Lots of slow breaks in the action where the fans should be able to watch what the refs watch or at least see stats or out of town scores. Just a spinning Rocky head most of the time.
Our offense looks modern and has moved the ball consistently against good defenses and not so good. Our QB Lamb seems to be a higher end OVC player. 1000 yards of offense and 80+ points in 2 games is great no matter who you play. Defense...major issues to address. We will have a tough time stopping folks this fall is my guess. All in all a good night back in Macomb and positive vibes at Hanson Field.

They did at least cover up the old MVFC logo and painted over it with the OVC logo. That's just a temporary fix until they get new turf after this season.NewNeck wrote: Sun Sep 29, 2024 7:43 pm Still have the old branding on the turf too.

I agree with you on the video board thing. It seems like every time they've ever tried to use it for anything else (like game action/replays) it ends up glitching really badly. Idk if that's just because the wiring in the press box is really old or what. Even if they just put on the same feed that goes out to ESPN+...that'd be better than nothing.

Sorry I don’t remember what it was but there was a purple square on the field that I didn’t like but if it’s getting replaced after this year I guess it’s not to big of a dealST_Lawson wrote: Sun Sep 29, 2024 10:21 pmThey did at least cover up the old MVFC logo and painted over it with the OVC logo. Marcus made a personal decision to leave the program and play closer to his hometown of O’Fallon, IL. He had some personal reasons for playing college ball closer to home. The new coaches had nothing to do with his decision.rockidogg wrote: Sun Sep 29, 2024 3:32 pm Anyone else notice to Marcus Hanson OL (sp?) lined up against us for McKendree?

Anytime there are changes in staff not all kids that are currently on the roster fit their needs due to offensive and defensive schemes. Plus…once practice starts in the Spring some kids figure out they’re not D1 players and need to play down to see the field. That’s common.
