If we ever upgrade the stadium, I think I'd prefer that we take a large chunk of the seats in the middle (maybe the middle three sections or whatever) and make them comfortable folding seats with much more space and cupholders all built-in. Drop the seating capacity on the home side by 1/2 and double the space for each person. It would make it a much better experience for the people sitting there and would take fewer people to make it look "full".sealhall74 wrote: Mon Oct 14, 2024 1:02 pmThe other new rule this year is you apparently cant bring in comfy folding chairs with cupholders to sit up on the northwest hillside like we did last year. That was a shocker for me and the wife. If we ever get a stadium upgrade and it does not have a nice berm for parking my folding seat, I will be extremely disappointed.

After working on a stadium plan prior to the "Rauner" debacle I would totally agree ST. My press box design would run along those tiers also and would be 3 levels with a patio on either side and infant. I am not sure whether people are just larger these days or what, but those seats are downright awful. Lets face it, WIU will have to totally tear down the entire west side first. No sense in trying to rehab no matter how sound the structure is inside the concrete berm. I think the real problem for se long was the CPA. I dont think the administrations ever felt like they could sell a westside before the 119,000 was produced for the CPA. No matter whether the money would have come from different funds or not, people would just have a tough time with the appearance politically. Beside that I don't think people are quite ready to spend the cash it will take to make the westside classy and useful.
Just so you all know, I have been gone for awhile due to a couple of different things beyond my control. First a 10 day stay on the hosipital with opportunistic pneumonia, and then my wife had surgery on her hip just 3 weeks ago. I have kept track of things via this board, WIU athletics, and the video presentations. jc
