NDSU or SDSU do not go on the road and beat B1G teams. It is not what most would have wanted to start the season. Paul Bubb is legit, the schedule looked like we were big time on paper, the divide is so vast. I am glad it's  a 12 game season. Now we can start the season!

Thanks for that. I've been racking my brain on why I knew who Adrian College was.

Hard to get a feel for this Necks team after 2 games.  The majority of P4 vs. FCS were still major blowouts this weekend. Would have like to see some life out of the offense.  Rushing defense still a major issue.  Chadha missed a FG and has kicked 2 kicks out of bounds.  I like the freshman QB at the end of the game.  Hope we don't have to rely on him this year.  Announcers very complimentary of job this staff did in year 1 but all fluff for now.

Honestly, I though we did pretty well against Northwestern. I saw MUCH worse blowouts yesterday.

We lost 52-3 to a team ranked in the teens in the FBS (and is now at #9 after steamrolling Duke), then 42-7 to a non-ranked Big 10 team.

This week...#14 Florida State beat E Texas A&M (Southland) 77-3. #22 Tennessee over ETSU (SoCon) 72-17. Unranked Minnesota over Northwestern State (Southland) 66-0. East Carolina over Campbell (CAA) 56-3. UCF over NC A&T (CAA) 68-7. Washington over UC Davis 70-10. Hell, #21 Alabama crushed FBS UL Monroe (Sun Belt) 73-0.

My point is, I wouldn't read too much into how we've done so far. I've been impressed with the defense at times, thought the offense was maybe a little suspect, but the results are not out of the realm of "expected" when playing Big 10 teams, even for decent FCS teams. Pretty much, unless you're one of the XDSU teams, you are going to have plenty more 50-point blowouts than close games when you're playing against P4 teams.

Fair perspective.  Still nothing to see out of our offense however for reference here is the IU box score last year.  Pretty abysmal for an offense that went on to be the best in the OVC/BS and our QB that accounted for almost 4,000 yards of offense. https://www.espn.com/college-football/g ... is-indiana

Exactly, and going back a bit, but the last time we played a P4/5 team in a season where we made the FCS playoffs (2015), we lost to Illinois 44-0. That same year we beat FCS #25 EIU 33-5, #12 UNI 24-19, and #5 SDSU 30-24 in 2 OTs. That year we had Norvell at QB, throwing to Lance Lenoir, Nikko Watson running the ball, OL Jacob Judd on the line, and LB Brett Taylor leading the defense. So...if those guys couldn't put up any points against an unranked and eventual 5-7 Illinois team, then I don't expect our current crop of guys to do much better against a top 15 ranked Illinois.

A decade ago, we had 141 yards of total offense (92 rushing, 49 passing). This year 163 yards of total offense (29 rushing, 134 passing). Not a huge difference, but if this year's team can come close to what the 2015 team eventually put on the field, I would be very happy.

We had a decent showing of fans in the North End Zone. Definitely the most scenic game I’ve been to - the Chicago skyline was visible from our vantage point.
