FYI to anyone.
2025 Week 4 at Eastern Washington
I'm probably the only one, but I have been more impressed with the backup QBs than I have with Irvin - right now not understanding why he was the "go to guy". Both Oline and Dline need to play tough, and special teams.......well, they need to do much better than against Valpo....

Saturday, September 20 at 6 PM (Central)
Roos Field (with the red turf), Cheney, WA
The Eagles are 0-3 this season after losing at top-10 ranked FCS Incarnate Word 31-21, losing 51-14 at FBS Boise State, then losing 17-14 at Northern Iowa. This weekend will be their home opener.
Live Stats will be available here: https://stats.statbroadcast.com/broadcast/?id=604319
Massey gives us a 25% chance of a win, with a projected score of 40-27 for EWU: https://masseyratings.com/game.php?gid=1838121
After playing two Big Ten teams, then a non-scholarship FCS (basically a D3 team), this should be our first real test against a somewhat comparable team.

wasn't able to view the Valpo game and the live stats did not work for us but it looked like we were back to 2024 form in terms of offensive domination. Why didn't the freshman QB Carswell play? This game was much better defensively than the 2024 home opener when McKendree moved the ball pretty well against us. Looks like Valpo got some junk points at the end.
I agree that it's still hard to judge this team based on the first 3 games.

I wondered if Carswell didn't play since they got to see him in action last week - they did play what I guess are the #3 and #4 QBs (Zolnosky and Volk). Zolnosky has some wheels, and Volk mostly passed the ball (with an interception). Other than the late scores, it was good to see so many guys get playing time.NewNeck wrote: Mon Sep 15, 2025 3:16 pm wasn't able to view the Valpo game and the live stats did not work for us but it looked like we were back to 2024 form in terms of offensive domination. Offense did pretty well. Not quite up to 2024 standards yet, but decent. They put in the second string in the 4th quarter once we were up by quite a bit, including Jr. QB T.C. Molk, who didn't do so well (0/2, 1 INT). Up 44-10 going into the final quarter, but Valpo had some lucky plays against our second string and outscored us 20-7. Defense seems to be a little better than last year, but we'll find out for sure this weekend. WR Antwon McKay Jr. won the QBR battle though, with 1/1 passing with 1 TDNewNeck wrote: Mon Sep 15, 2025 3:16 pm wasn't able to view the Valpo game and the live stats did not work for us but it looked like we were back to 2024 form in terms of offensive domination. Things did get a bit chippy at times, leading to some dumb penalties (on both sides).

I had thought McKay had been moved to WR....ST_Lawson wrote: Mon Sep 15, 2025 4:19 pmOffense did pretty well. Not quite up to 2024 standards yet, but decent. There are at least two of us. This week should give us true look at if he is capable.rocki wrote: Mon Sep 15, 2025 12:30 pm I'm probably the only one, but I have been more impressed with the backup QBs than I have with Irvin - right now not understanding why he was the "go to guy". He has been, but I think what is being referred to is the "trick play".
Sorry, yes...was a bit of a joke. There was one play where the QB (probably Irvin at that point) tossed the ball across and slightly back (lateral pass) to McKay, then McKay tossed it 14 yards for a TD. 1 for 1 for 14 yards and a TD equals a ridiculous QB Rating of 547.6. He is still a WR.rocki wrote: Tue Sep 16, 2025 11:02 amHe has been, but I think what is being referred to is the "trick play".NewNeck wrote: Mon Sep 15, 2025 7:14 pmI had thought McKay had been moved to WR....ST_Lawson wrote: Mon Sep 15, 2025 4:19 pm
