Dueling Football Games???

If you want to talk about Monmouth University Football, Quincy University Basketball, Notre Dame Men's Soccer, or whatever, this is the place.

I was hoping that since MHS made it to the second round of playoffs that there would be a Friday night game, but I see that they are scheduled to play here in Macomb at 1 p.m. - the same time the Leathernecks are set to kick off against Lindenwood. Might make for an even more sparse crowd than usual. Add to that the Altrusa bazaar on that Saturday, and this little old town won't know where to go.  :D

The middle school is having their play this weekend too…performances Friday night, Saturday afternoon and night in the HS auditorium. Parking is going to be at a premium at the HS on Saturday.

Well, the IHSA didn't do a very good job of scheduling, did they? I read somewhere that the refs were requesting Friday night games whenever possible, since they also do college games on Saturdays.

The schools do their own scheduling. I don’t understand why teams play Friday night all year then come playoffs everyone wants Saturday. I understand if a team has to travel far but do someone like Campoint vs brown county need to play on Saturday

Yes, because some of those Friday night games involve a lot of time and miles during the regular season, so the traveling shouldn't be that much different.

And it's not like Geneseo is a long ways from Macomb. It's only about an hour and 45 minutes from Geneseo HS to Macomb HS. Geneseo is in the same conference as Quincy, so they had to drive right past Macomb on their way down to play them just a few weeks ago.
