It seemed like, at least in the first half, JD was playing a lot of players who don't usually see a lot of playing time. Like, at any given time, you'd have a couple of the regular starters and a few less common players.Wiufan87 wrote: Tue Dec 09, 2025 10:24 pm I thought Columbia tested us with only a 4 point lead at half. We played good defense holding them to only 10 second half points. Like watching live on espn+. Western wins!
For example, when we played Drake the other day, our starters (McCowan, Meadows, Nicastro, Brownfield, and Reed) averaged 32.6 minutes. Then you had Shetley with 25, Davis with 9, and Skrobot with 3 off the bench.
Last night, the starters averaged 28.4 minutes per player, with Shetley (19), Davis (12), Skrobot (8), Bowman (8), Eggina (5), Herrig (3), and Holthaus (3) all coming off the bench.
I didn't pay real close attention, but it seemed like in the 3rd quarter, the coaches were like "ok, that's enough" and played the regular starters more (as evidenced by the change in scoring patterns in the second half).

Our shots from midrange and deeper were not falling in the first half. 2nd half we exerted our influence mostly in the paint and ramped up the defensive pressure. Looking at the stats to date, we are pretty good in all areas except shooting from deep. For example, Lindenwood making about 3 more 3pts shots per game than us right now. We are getting about 7 more FTs per game than the Lions. But IMHO, nothing flips the momentum of a game more than a string of 3s finding the bottom of the net.
Embrace the pace of the race.
