Let's hope there is some substance to it that we can move forward with. Or did he pull a Hillary and delete it? LOL

There is nothing that was going to stop Tommy from.leaving WIU if accepted. His wife is there at SIU be honest the only way you could blame WIU was for not hiring her as well and that would.most likely mean taking away someone else's position.

Tommy Bell was one of three finalists who were interviewed on campus in 2013. The other two were China Jude, athletic director at Division II Queens (N.Y.) College, and Ken Ralph, athletic director at Division III Colorado College.

Ken Ralph is still at Colorado College: http://cctigers.com/staff.aspx?staff=4

China Jude is still at Queens College: http://www.queensknights.com/sports/inf ... o-template
Interesting, thanks 712

Ken was impressive I actually liked him better than Tommy. China was very unimpressive she would have set us back. If she were to apply again I would just file it.

Reading some bios on the staff directory. Matt Tanney formerly had administrative supervision of several sports, not including football and men's basketball. Just wondering who in dept. actually has that role - is it the AD? I think we could promote from within and make it work. IMO, biggest immediate impact Matt or any other AD could make would be upgrading our strength and conditioning program - we are weak in numbers and experience there.

Rather large difference from being a "game manager" to being AD. Need someone personable who can help make necessary change happen.

Very true, Tere. Lots of time to browse around today. One of the more interesting tidbits I found was that Laurie Bell, Interim Dean of the University College at SIU, also has a "David Letterman"-style top 10 goals statement:

With higher ed facing financial difficulties and loss of stature, it has become a necessity that schools, etc., have articulated and measurable goals where they demonstrate their success (or be held accountable for their failure).

I believe the new AD should have demonstrated success in fund raising. I would have a hard time supporting candidates fromD3 or D2, unless the D2 had proven success, not an underling. Surely there's some D1 folks looking to move up from an assistant AD role out there. Of course, not only WESTERN, but, Macomb is a factor in who is willing to move their family. Spouses can block a move very quickly. IMHO, a candidate with D1 experience is a key. They would have an understanding that D3 or D2 might not. But, except for Tommy, the other two candidates last time around looked weak to me. Must have been a weak candidate pool. Maybe this time, better.
