"Nice" to see other areas will not have an opportunity.

Like it or not, Sioux Falls has been, BY FAR, the most successful venue for the tournament. And now that they will be using the new arena, it's only going to get bigger, I think.
I can remember going up to the Quad Cities for the tournament when I was an undergrad in pep band, playing at The Mark of the Quad Cities (now the iWireless Center) in a later-round (maybe championship) game against Valparaiso. Valpo is 3 hours from the QC area, Macomb is 90 minutes away and has a regional campus essentially 3 miles away...and yet, the place felt empty. Maybe a few thousand people there at the most. People just didn't show up.
Sioux Falls has really stepped up their game to keep the tournament there, and yes, it essentially gives the SD schools a "home field advantage", but I think that anywhere you go, if it's not close to one of the conference members, then you're not going to get hardly anyone to show up. You can't deny that Sioux Falls brings in a ton of people for the level that our conference is at and provides a great venue for it.
Would I prefer that the tournament be somewhere more "centrally located"...Quad Cities, Des Moines maybe...sure, but until one of those areas steps up and is able to provide a competitive offer for the conference, it doesn't look like it's going anywhere for a while.

The new Premier Center remains a huge home court advantage for the Dakota schools but IMO, not as much of one as the old Sioux Falls Arena was. Even with only about 7K people in the "Old Barn", it was deafening with the sound bouncing off those walls and rafters. One thing I would like to know is just how much revenue each school in the conference ends up getting from the "Shindig in Sioux Falls".
Embrace the pace of the race.
Did some digging and wasn't able to find anything. Since all but two of the Summit League schools are public, I'd imagine that that information should be available somewhere (or at the very least, info for all the public schools).sealhall74 wrote:One thing I would like to know is just how much revenue each school in the conference ends up getting from the "Shindig in Sioux Falls".

I found an article relating to revenue sharing for a couple years back. It appears to be in the neighborhood of $125K split among the conference members. That will certainly covering the cost of transportation, meals, and lodging for the players, cheerleaders, and band but not much more. Also, I wonder what the guaranteed ticket allotment is for each school. I am sure the non-Dakota schools sell back >90% of their tickets to bring in a few extra dollars.ST_Lawson wrote:Did some digging and wasn't able to find anything. So....that's like $13.9k per school? I guess if it covers transportation and everything for the team and associated groups, then that's fine. Doesn't sound like a lot, but it's better than nothing. I don't really have a reference point in terms of what other conferences do.sealhall74 wrote:I found an article relating to revenue sharing for a couple years back. The Tournament has been very well supported by the Sioux Falls community.
And the Dakotas have the Midco Sports Network. We have nothing like that here.

This is some serious hang time for JC Fuller. So if a kid listed at 6'4" is "eyes even" with the rim, what are we looking at? I am thinking 38-40" vertical. According to Google, average vertical for a DI player is 27-30".
NOTE: I keep forgetting how to grab an image which is stored on Google drive. Very simple, just need the file id for it.
Put that link inside the "Img" tags to get an embedded image like below:
