Who do yall think will last longer Nielson @ USD or Fisher @ WIU
Hmmm...that's a tough one.
At first you'd think that the better option would be having Fisher last longer here than Nielson at USD....but....
If Nielson does well, but not great, he could stay at USD for quite a while. Good enough not to get fired, maybe make the playoffs every few years, but not quite enough to get them deep into the playoffs.
If Fisher does really well, we keep making the playoffs, and maybe even get close or compete for a national championship, he could be getting some serious looks from the lower-level G5 FBS teams.
So, Nielson could be decent and just stay there until he retires. Fisher could be awesome and be picked up by a higher-level school (which, honestly, I'm ok with, because it means he's done some really good things for us along the way).
Tough call.

3 years for both, Fisher does great has a 9-2 season and moves up to FBS. Nielson best year is 5-6 and never makes playoffs and gets fired.

From his interview, I think Western is where Fisher wants to end his career. I don't see him trying to move up and will enjoy getting settled rather than always being on the move.
Here's to him actually getting all his bags and moving boxes unpacked and multiple good years looking forward to Leatherneck Football.

I recall Nielson saying he wanted to finish his career here too, but things change. Think there was a good chance of that happening if things were financially different here. He'll finish at USD, unless they regress drastically, but don't think they will with him and his staff. Not going to win too many conference championships, but they'll be decent.
Think Fisher would take a good FBS HC offer if it comes and that's expected. Like others have said, it would come because we're doing well. 2 to 3 times more money (minimum) and a chance at the FBS level seems like a no brainer. Who knows though, in 3 to 4 years he might be content in Macomb in the FCS and stick it out so we can break NDSU's soon to be 5 straight national championships.
