Very exciting! If Henderson can land some big, fast athletes from OK, TX, and LA, that will be absolutely huge for this program moving forward. LN57 - I know staffs typically divide up recruiting "areas" and it sounds like we've got some coaches with ties to some real recruiting "hot spots" across the country, but has anyone been assigned to the IL (and upper midwest) schools yet? I know it's early and things are still shaking out, but I'm interested to see who the lead recruiter in "our own back yard" might be. Thanks for the early news on the staff.
57 may know more, but I know that Coach Fisher and one of the other two coaches that had been hired at the time spent a few days last week hitting up recruits in the Chicago area. Probably once everyone else is hired, they'll figure out the best person to handle our own region, but it sounds like for now, Coach Fisher is handling it himself. Also, today is the last day of the current "Dead Period", where contact between coaches and recruits is severely restricted.
"The dead period is the most restrictive. No in-person contact is allowed, even if a prospect makes a visit to the college campus. Written and electronic communications are still permitted."
January 11-14 was a dead period, then we have a nice long contact period from January 15-30.
Contact period is..."The most wide-open time. During this time, coaches can visit with prospects and families regardless of location. In-person contact is permitted once per week. Note that a coach cannot visit a school multiple times in one week if it has more than one prospect. Electronic and written communications are also permitted."
I would imagine that the hired coaches have spent most of this week evaluating potential recruits and talking to potential coaching staff members. Starting tomorrow, they'll probably start hitting the recruiting trail pretty hard and we'll start to see more mentions of visits and offers on twitter.

Fisher and Elliot have Illinois covered. Coach Rocco is handling St. Louis and Missouri. Malone is currently in Florida. Sounds like we have our bases covered... and Henderson will have his spots and connections to the south. Sounds like we are in great hands.. Support needs to be high. Great day to be a LEATHERNECK.... as ALWAYS!

Yeah I would guess coach Elliot would be the one to do are area he has coached in Missouri and Wisconsin before as well as his time here but i would expect fisher to be heavily involved in recruiting are area as well.

I was hesitant on what kind of staff fisher could put together knowing most staffs are already filled out but i think he has done a great job it is great to see coaches from different parts of the country which was something we didn't really have with nielsen it will be great if henderson can get us into Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma we really haven't had anyone from those areas in my 6 yrs here but looking @ older roster's from the patterson era we seem to get some players from those areas.
That's why I was having so much trouble finding out info on the other guy...I was spelling his name wrong. Thought the L was an I.

Did some checking and it looks like there was 1 year overlap where Coach Howle played Center at Penn State at the same time that Coach Fisher was the QB coach there.
Also, I know Howle was a GA on staff at NC State last year. If he was there in 2014 as well, he would also have worked on the same staff with their WR coach at the time, former Leatherneck Frisman Jackson.
