Also, I know Howle was a GA on staff at NC State last year. If he was there in 2014 as well, he would also have worked on the same staff with their WR coach at the time, former Leatherneck Frisman Jackson.
As much as he may like Western, I doubt someone who's looking to keep moving up in the coaching world would go from being a WR coach at a good G5 school to a WR coach at an FCS school. I don't see any open positions on our staff higher than that at this point. People were talking about him being an OC or even a HC candidate when we were initially looking at possibilities.
I'd love to see him back here coaching for us at some point, but I don't think there's a good spot for him right now.

Found out somewhat disappointing news this morning.
Coach Henderson was offered and accepted a position on staff at UT-San Antonio under new UTSA head coach Frank Wilson. A bit of perspective though...Frank Wilson was an assistant coach when Henderson was in high school in New Orleans and they've been friends for a long time. In the meantime, Wilson worked up the ranks, eventually becoming the LSU RB coach and one of the top recruiters in the country and was just yesterday named the new HC at UTSA. So, Henderson got an offer to coach for a good friend, learn from one of the best recruiters, probably for more pay (UTSA is an FBS school in CUSA), in a location that is MUCH closer to home for him. Can't say I blame him one bit.
It is a bit disappointing for us, since he would have been a solid hire, but he was only in town for maybe a day (not even sure he'd had a chance to "officially" be hired yet with papers signed and everything) so it's not like he was working on recruits and then jumped ship or anything. I'm sure that Fisher had a few other candidates in mind for the position as well, so I'd bet he'll get someone in fairly quickly that will do the job well.
So, just reset your thinking to ~24 hours ago, before we heard about Coach Henderson, and realize that we're no worse off than we were yesterday, when we were still pretty excited about how things were shaping up.

he would have been a big addition to the staff but i can't blame him i did find it a little weird that they would hire a D-Line before a DC maybe they have a DC and there keeping it under close wraps especially if there going to visit judge tonight.
I think that Malone is down in Florida right now, so he's probably the one meeting with Judge.
Still, you're right, it's possible that a new DC will have a solid D-line coach that he wants to bring in, or at least will work together with Coach Fisher to find the right guy for the job.

Just seems weird that the OC would be meeting with a defensive player even though judge did play RB some in high school.

Remember...coaches recruit both sides of the ball. If you're assigned to a region you have to be able to recruit both offense, defense, kickers, punters etc. Financially a school the size of Western couldn't afford to send an offensive coach to an area just to recruit players for the offense and then send a defensive coach there too. That wouldn't make sense.
Another consideration is, if we waited until we had a D-coordinator and most/all of the defensive staff in place before we went out meeting with recruits, we'd be REALLY behind on things.
