FCS Season Awards

They've announced the finalists and top 25 for the Payton Award and Buchanan Awards. The top 3 finalists get invited to the award announcement the evening before the FCS championship game in January.

Brett Taylor finished 7th on the Buchanan award list. And from the MVFC, Dylan Cole of MSU and Karter Schult of UNI are 2 of the top 3 (personally, I think Schult should get it...17 sacks (#1 in FCS), 24 tackles for loss (school record and #2 in FCS). Also from the MVFC is #14T Derek Rivers, YSU. With regards to Taylor, he's #7, and 4 of the 6 guys in front of him in the voting are seniors, so if you subtract those, he'll be #3 on the Buchanan list of guys who are returning next year. If he can have a great senior year, he should have a good shot at being a finalist.

For the Payton Award, we didn't get anyone on the list (there's 4 WRs on the list and Lenoir finished 11th in the FCS in yards per game).
For the MVFC, SDSU kinda "owned" the list...7. Taryn Christion, SDSU; 10. Jake Wieneke, SDSU; and 14. Dallas Goedert, SDSU
Scary thing is, all of them are coming back next year....Wieneke and Goedert will be seniors and Christion will be a junior.
