Northern Illinois University will make a change in its Men's Basketball head coaching position and will separate from head coach Mark Montgomery effective immediately.
Associate Head Coach Lamar Chapman will lead the team on an interim basis for the remainder of the 2021 season.
The Huskies are off to a 1-7 start this season with their only victory coming against winless Chicago State.
Montgomery has had just two winning seasons at NIU. He was the longest-tenured coach at NIU with a 124-170 record in 10 years. He is second on the program’s all-time coaching wins list behind John McDougal.
