Was it The "Original" Change of Pace not too far off the square from back in the 70s or was it the 2nd coming one?
One I remember was an old hotel I think, lots of nooks and crannies to mingle around in, nice Saturday morning pool tournament IIRC.

The original Change of Pace was located across from Chandler Park, diagonally from the train station, but had to move when they put in the bypass.
