More Alumni House Vandalism

If you want to talk about Monmouth University Football, Quincy University Basketball, Notre Dame Men's Soccer, or whatever, this is the place.

More sad, disappointing news:

The WIU Foundation is offering a $500 reward to the individual who comes forward with information that leads to the arrest of the individual(s) responsible for vandalizing the Western sign in front of the WIU Alumni House.

During the early morning hours, someone removed the letter "W" from the sign.

Information about crimes can be reported to the Office of Public Safety at (309) 298-1949 or to the Macomb Area Crime Stoppers at (309) 836-3222.

Anonymous tips can also be submitted online or by texting CRIMESTOP and the tip to CRIMES (274637).

****ing ridiculous. What a world we live in. Rather than have it happen again, I would change the design and have the letters emblazoned in stone or concrete as part of the wall and then light up the wall. The "lit up" individual letters are too inviting from some idiot who is also "lit up" on his way back from the pubs. If they are going to steal letters, make them lift something very heavy.
Embrace the pace of the race.

Or make them electrified. I know with some of our cattle electric fences, they'd literally knock you on your butt.

Tere has an interesting idea. Running an electrical current through those letters would certainly keep "sticky hands" away.

Graduation weekend is coming up this week. The Alumni House front yard has always been a popular photo spot for the new graduates.

The best that we can hope for now would be for the guilty person to return the "W" to its rightful place.

Update:
The letter "W" has not been found/returned.
A replacement "W" has been installed.
The $500 reward still stands.
