The battle for The Railsplitter Axe will be tonight (Jan 13) at Eastern Illinois.

Eastern Illinois currently has the axe as a result of their 71-59 victory over Western on January 30, 2025.

In between the WBB/MBB games right now. We have about a couple dozen purple & gold here - mix of older alumni and middle-aged.

Too bad this isn’t on a Saturday - in-state rivalries should always be on Saturday. Hope OVC ensures that moving forward.

Eastern Illinois wins 57-55

Karyiek Dixon led the Western scoring with 14 points. Lucas Lorenzen had 13.

Attendance at Eastern Illinois = 1,324

Next game will be at Little Rock on Saturday (Jan 17). Game time is 3:30 PM.

A missed shot here, a missing defender there, made all the difference.  We are only 7 games into conference season but the conference appears to be very weak this year.  Any game is winnable but we really need a couple of wins in the next 3 on this roadtrip.  If we come home empty-handed, the climb to make the conference tournament becomes very difficult.
