Re: 2017 - Discussion of Basketball Recruits
Eulis Baez was a non-U.S. recruit, right? He was excellent. And Big. God, we need big.

Anderson? Seriously?
I've noticed on this forum that most people are fairly optimistic, making positive comments about a good outcome before each game. I can't say that I am positive at all about this team. And will someone please explain to me what earthly good it does for WIU to play a school like Anderson College? Of...

Re: GDT @ Akron
I'm amazed that so many on this forum were optimistic going into the season. I somewhat admire that, but I'm sorry, until Western actually recruits some bigs who are viable scorers, this will always be the story. And free throwing continues to absolutely suck. I don't care what quality of DI player ...

Re: 2017 - Discussion of Basketball Recruits
Big guys....we need to concentrate on BIG people. A school like Western can get guards out the ying-yang, but attracting a true paint player should be the focus. Otherwise, this program is going nowhere faster.

Greenville College...a win, maybe?
After getting absolutely pantsed (how else would you spell this, spell-check?) by the two-man (or one man, one woman) team of William and Mary, the Leathernecks had better hitch up their slacks, put a belt on and deliver a win against Division III opponent Greenville College at home on Saturday. Twe...

Re: Game day at UIC
We have no big men of any substance. Which is what I feared when I saw the recruiting class. Our new guys may range from OK to good, but none are big.
If we are over .500 this year I will be surprised. I hope I am.

First game in person in 41 years....a loss
Drove two hours to Chicago to see Leathernecks take on UIC...neither team rated very highly in b-ball publications so I thought it could be a good contest and maybe a win...something I had not seen in 41 years (Class of 1973). It was competitive for sure, but we lost 67-64 due to three specific reas...

Re: Farewell, WIU
Best of luck to you in your new endeavor.
Does this mean you will never finish the top WIU scorers countdown for basketball? I really enjoyed it and searched frantically for it when it came to an abrupt halt.
Understand it is a tall task.
Anyway, best of luck.
