Lindenwood's Record: The Lions are 3-5 overall this season and 2-2 in the OVC. They started off the season with three losses to then FBS #22 Kansas (38-4), FCS #9 Central Arkansas (34-13), and Missouri State (28-14). They then ran all over non-scholarship St. Thomas, winning 64-0. In the OVC, they won at Eastern Illinois (28-25), lost against Tennessee State (24-20), beat Charleston Southern (29-14), then lost at Gardner-Webb last weekend (42-35). This weekend's game will be Homecoming for Lindenwood.
History: WIU has played the Lions once in the two teams history. Despite being located fairly close, Lindenwood has only recently moved up to the DI level, so last year's matchup with them was our first. Many of you probably remember that that was the game where WIU was up 31-14 at halftime, but pretty much fell apart in the second half, eventually falling 43-40: https://goleathernecks.com/sports/footb ... core/13319

- Senior RB Cortezz Jones averages 55.63 ypg on the ground with 5 TDs.
- Freshman RB Steve Hall is averaging 52 ypg with 1 TD and was awarded the BS/OVC Co-Freshman of the Week last week.
- Junior WR Jeff Caldwell is the top receiver, picking up just over 97 ypg and 9 TDs with a 22.91 yard per catch average.
- Senior LB Vincent King leads the team in tackles with 77 total (46 solo), and 7.5 tackles for loss. He was awarded the BS/OVC Defensive Player of the Week last week.

- Junior DB Jayden Patrick has 2 interceptions and 21 total tackles.
- Aussie Sophomore Punter Patrick Turner averages 38 yards per punt with 2 over 50 yards.

- Since they're in the STL area, they have a number of players that I'd normally consider "local", being from STL or the suburbs, so I'm not going to list them all
- Sophomore WR John Anthony is from Chicago
- Freshman DB Sam Owens is from Decatur, IL
- Freshman DL Jack Stump is from Morton, IL
- Senior OL Ethan Johnson is from Normal, IL
- Freshman OL Nate Compere is from Crystal Lake, IL (NW Chicago suburbs)
- Junior TE Abe Haerr is from Palmyra, MO (between Quincy and Hannibal on the MO side of the river)
- Freshman DL Chris Abihudi is from Carpentersville, IL (far west "fringe" Chicago suburbs)
- Freshman DL Andrew Zook is from Yorkville, IL (just a bit out from Oswego in the Chicago area)
For reference, we had a 34% chance against Tennessee Tech last weekend. I'm hoping that the members of the team that are still around from last year will treat this as something of a "revenge" game and get the new guys fired up to even up the series with Lindenwood. They're only about 3 hours away from Macomb, which means that they're now the closest of our conference-mates. Let's get a good crowd down there and spoil their homecoming game. We have a handful of players from the St. Louis region too, so I'm thinking we'll see a good "friends and family of players" crowd also.
